Project Begin Date: 8/30/22
??WHAT’S WITH THE SUPERSCRIPT 11’s, 12’s, etc??
—-The superscript numbers denote the generation. Milliner Charles Eastham11 is a member of the 11th generation since the Original Individual was identified by Bobby Joe.—-This is a standardized genealogical format and I’ll try and incorporate more of it as the posts develop.
Marvin Stepp has graciously provided the text from the book he wrote several years ago on the branches of our family.
Marvin started with my Maternal Great-Grandfather, Milliner Charles Eastham, and did a great job with the information that he had to work with. Fortunately, Marvin was able to interview several members of the family who are no longer with us and preserve some information that would likely have been lost forever.
I have been able to locate more information that I will incorporate into this project – notably a family history written by a cousin from Arkansas – Bobby Joe Wilson. Bobby was the son of Effie (Eastham) Wilson. Bobby evidently researched the family for years and the copy of his work goes back to the first Eastham (Essom) to come to America, in the 1600’s. I am attempting to reach Bobby’s descendants to obtain permission to copy his work and get it out to the folks.
I have also obtained stories written by Art Eastham who lived most of his life in Little Rock, Arkansas, and was a very successful businessman and loved in the community. The text I have is fairly rough and I intend to edit it for clarity, but will also make the original available in case I have made errors in the “translation.”
I have seen a very interesting letter that was written by Ella May (Eastham) Manson’s son, but haven’t been able to locate a copy of it as of yet. He detailed life in the Murrell Home (aka Hunter’s Home) near Park Hill, Oklahoma when the family lived there sometime around the mid-1930’s. If anyone can locate that info (or more letters, memories) PLEASE forward a copy to me. I am fairly sure that a copy of the letter was submitted to the caretakers of the Murrell Home.
EDIT: I have obtained a great article that incorporates this letter and have reached out to the author for permission to use it. No response, so far.
The main purpose of this project is to get updated information about the family and to work toward a more complete picture of who we are and where we came from.
I must apologize in advance for my lack of skill in formatting this project. It is my hope that as time goes on I will make it easier to use. I hope that I will be able to keep us all straight – there’s still a pretty good herd of us roaming about the planet!
I’d like for us all to feel a sense of ownership by contributing information to the project. At this time, I am concentrating on getting basic information on everyone and working in a “…just the facts, Ma’am” mode.
Marvin emailed me the text files on the pages, and I copied them into posts. I’ve started updating the information as I get it. The post may change at any time because of ongoing updates.
At the bottom of each post, there’s a “COMMENT” section.
PLEASE make additions and comments and I’ll make updates as I can.
FUTURE PLANS: I’d love to add a section about family stories soon. If you’d like to send one in, feel free. I’ll keep them in a separate section for now. Be sure and take time to detail exactly who the players are in the story for clarity.
PHOTOS: I don’t have TONS of storage, but I should be able to host some pictures. PLEASE include the names of everyone in the picture and the place and approximate date it was taken. At this time, let’s concentrate on getting a picture of everyone to add to their entry. I’d like to have pictures of the individuals and married couples – but I’ll try and use everything that fits.
Please keep in mind that this is a VERY rough draft of preliminary information on this “sub-branch” of the Family.
I believe the main challenge in getting correct information is communication, and I hope that this format will prove to be most efficient.
I’m going to ask the more keyboard-friendly among us to participate in the project by being the go-between for our less computer savvy members.
THIS POST WILL BE UPDATED AS MORE INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE.
The format that the post will take is anyone’s guess at this point – but I expect it to firm up quickly.
I’d like to suggest we use a format like this one for corrections and updates, but will take the information however I can get it.
