Fixing a Nail Hole with a “String Repair” Patch Kit

If you have one of these kits and a little air compressor with you, a nail in the tire won’t put you out of commission for long. Sure, you can change out the tire with the spare – assuming you HAVE a spare, and that it hasn’t gone flat over the years. You can get a tough little compressor at Harbor Freight (like the one in the pictures) for around $50 and the repair kit runs about $15. They don’t take up much room, and I’ve just made it part of my little travel kit.

The Lair at Arcadia Farms, Oregon aka “Swayze Manor”

I miss the solitude of this place. It was far enough from the road that I seldom heard traffic, just the occasional horse noises from the barn across the driveway from it. My landlady was an amazingly tough lady – and as far as I know she’s still at it. She’s way too tender-hearted for the work, though. The horses eat – no matter what and it’s not easy work. I did the best I could to help, but it consisted of mostly fence-mending, maintenance on the stalls, mowing, and moving manure piles. I don’t think people understand how much manure horses produce…I’m still amazed.
I was there for about 8 months, and sometimes wish I’d have found a way to stay longer. But it was a great experience and I would do it again.
