Hello World!

When I see someone’s YouTube videos, I often wonder what they are like IRL (that’s “In Real Life” for my fellow geezers).

I’d like to introduce myself and let you know where I’m at on the Path from time to time – so if it’s something you might find interesting, here I am!

I’ve had some adventures, but I’ll parse those out in the various posts as time goes one. The TLDR (“Too Long Didn’t Read” again, for my fellow geezers) is: Born and raised in Tahlequah, OK; worked in family auto parts business; later took over, then sold parts business; graduated law school at 50; moved to Oregon and lost about 5 years in a (mostly) pleasant way; moved back to Tennessee to stay with folks; moved back to Oregon for 2 years and worked in a few odd jobs there; moved back to Tennessee again and worked mostly in document review for a downtown law firm sporadically; COVID – still worked on-site at doc review off and on; started eBay selling more seriously in 2020, still selling; Spring 2021 started messing with YouTube and blogging more; also Spring 2021 decided to become a frustrated author in my spare time….oh, and I bought a motorcycle in May 2021. That’s been an adventure in itself – “The Pegasus Project.”

Bella, the family Chihuahua.
Bella the Wonder Dog. One of the few Chihuahuas I’ve ever met that wasn’t a psycho. She likes everybody.

So, drop in and check on me from time to time. This and my YouTube channel are going to be works in progress from here on out. You can find it by looking for “redhatpicker”

A word or so about the “redhatpicker” thing: When men get “of a certain age” (usually in our mid-30’s or before) we become invisible to an extent. I started wearing Kangol caps several years ago, and on a whim I ordered a red one with a couple more “proper” colors…black, tan, forest green. Sometime along the way, I wore the red hat out while I was picking stuff up to resell on eBay at my local thrifts. Several of the folks I dealt with, particularly the cashiers, would occasionally compliment me on my red hat. I recognized that they actually “saw” me and would remember me better, because of my goofy red hat. I now wear it every time I’m out sourcing, and it’s made me a few bucks – because folks recognize me by the hat and remember me. So, the Red Hat Picker moniker stuck.
